About
Czech Television (ČT) is a public institution operating nationwide television broadcasting in the Czech Republic. It was established in 1992 by the Act on Czech Television, which establishes the framework for its operation, including the performance of public service tasks in the field of television broadcasting and the method of financing. As a public service medium, it is intended to provide all citizens with access to information, culture, education and entertainment. It acts as the successor of the previous state-owned Czechoslovak Television. It broadcasts on six stations, full-format ČT1 and ČT2, news ČT24, sports ČT sport, children's ČT :D and cultural ČT art. It is based in Prague in the area on the Kavčí hory and also has two legally established studios in Brno and Ostrava. Jan Souček has been the CEO of Czech Television since 2023.
