Melusine Productions
About
Created in 1997 by Stéphan Roelants, Melusine Productions is focused on developing and producing animation movies and TV shows, documentaries and live action movies with a constant search for quality. We first pay high attention to the cleverness of the concept and the quality of the writing process. We then focus on the symbiosis of these elements with graphical research in accordance to the subject and the artistic ambition of the movie. The quality of the various elements of cinematography is our constant concern in order to enable the audience and critics to appreciate productions with an on-going original tone. Praised by festivals selections and prestigious awards, our company has at heart to serve original, well-thought and unusual productions. With our partner studio, Studio 352, our crew, consisting of renowned artists, bends to the purpose of every project with concerned attention. We favor durable and qualitative associations with partners such as Cartoon Saloon, Folivari, Lupus Films, Blue Spirit, Les Armateurs or MotionWorks. Since 2004 Melusine participated as producer on feature-length movies and TV series such as A Town Called Panic, selected in Cannes, Aunt Hilda and Richard the Stork, both selected in the Berlinale, My Mommy is in America, nominated at the Cesars, Extraordinary Tales or Mullewapp. But the highlights are Ernest and Celestine, Song of the Sea, Ethel & Ernest, The Breadwinner, Zero Impunity, The Swallows of Kabul and The Prince’s Voyage. Those were granted a long prize list with selections in Cannes, Sundance, Toronto and New York, as well as numerous awards such as for the Cesars, the EFAs, the Annie Awards and four Oscars nominations. After the exceptional release of Wolfwalkers in theaters and on Appletv+, Melusine successfully launched the distribution of The Summit of the Gods, adapted from the Jirō Taniguchi graphic novel. Praised both in Cannes and during the Césars, the movie was also purchased by Netlix, further demonstrating the international prospects and potential of the projects coproduced by Melusine. Melusine is currently producing a new iteration of the Ernest and Celestine franchise with Folivari, following-up to the TV collection. A Trip to Gibberitia will be a full-length feature film as will be Kensuke’s Kingdom, coproduced with Lupus and Jigsaw Films and adapted from the Michael Morpurgo novel, or Slocum which will be the last movie directed by one of the masters of French animation, Jean-François Laguionie, and for which Melusine is main producer.
