About
GunHil is co-founded by Gunnar Karlsson and Hilmar Sigurdsson, long-time collaborators in creative ventures, ranging from advertising through design and into animation and film. GunHil started out of the basement of Gunnar’s house in Reykjavík on April 1st, 2012. After formation, GunHil was soon joined by Haukur Sigurjonsson to lead production and operate our Swedish wing and then Árni Geir Pálsson took a stake and became the chairman of the company. In 2017, they sold the company to Sagafilm, Iceland’s oldest production company which Hilmar then lead for six years. Upon sale of Sagafilm in summer of 2023, the old partners bought back their animation company and headed back to base with the company.
