VideoFilmes' history is marked by the conquest of more than 400 international awards, including the Golden Bear and Silver Bear at the Berlin Film Festival, the Palme d'Or at Cannes (Best Actress), the Golden Globe, two BAFTA awards, and has also received 8 nominations and 1 Oscar® for its productions and co-productions. Created by brothers Walter and João Moreira Salles in 1986, VideoFilmes is an independent production company with 35 years of experience in the audiovisual market, considered a reference for the artistic value of its work. The production company has already produced more than 100 projects of fiction films, documentaries, series, TV programs, and national and international co-productions. Among its productions are the fiction films “Central do Brasil” and “Linha de Passe”, by Walter Salles; the documentaries “Santiago” and “No Intenso Agora” by João Moreira Salles; and films by renowned directors such as Sérgio Machado, Eryk Rocha and Karim Aïnouz, in addition to documentaries by the great master Eduardo Coutinho. Recent productions include “Deslembro”, a feature-length fiction film by Flavia Castro, which premiered at the 2019 Venice Film Festival; “Irmãos Freitas”, a fiction series by Sérgio Machado, from 2019, in co-production with Gullane; “Fico te devendo uma carta sobre o Brasil”, the documentary that premiered at the 2019 IDFA, by Carol Benjamin, in co-production with Daza Filmes and Muiraquitã Filmes. VideoFilmes co-produced with Uns Produções the documentary by Renato Terra and Ricardo Calil, “Narciso em Férias”, which premiered at the Venice Biennale in 2020, and produced the documentary “Marinheiro das Montanhas”, by Karim Aïnouz, which premiered in the Special Section at the Cannes Film Festival in 2021.
