Thalia Film
About
Thalia-Film has been active in the field of film and television production since January 1, 1980, with Gerda Fritz as managing director. Thalia-Film's productions include numerous nationally and internationally award-winning works. A detailed list of all productions can be found under Films.
Thalia-Film's main concern since its inception has been the representation of Austrian identity (actors such as Helmut Qualtinger, Michael Heltau, Kurt Sowinetz, Julia Stemberger, Susi Nicoletti, Karl Merkatz, Erni Mangold, Tobias Moretti, authors and directors such as Wolfgang Murnberger, Thomas Baum, Ulli Schwarzenberger and many others) and the film adaptation of Austrian literature (Ingeborg Bachmann, Wolfgang Bauer, Felix Mitterer, Gerhard Roth, Franz Werfel). Famous examples are the two-parter "Eine blassblaue Frauenschrift" and two parts of the "Emigranten" trilogy (Welcome in Vienna, Santa Fé), directed by Axel Corti.
A key focus of Thalia-Film has always been the promotion of young talent, as demonstrated by numerous first works. We are therefore looking forward to your ideas, treatments and scripts.
In December 2004, Gerda Fritz received the Cross of Merit for Science and Art for her work to date.
In the next generation, the qualified lawyer and author Alexander Fritz works as a non-fiction and script writer alongside his management duties, most recently for the ORF series "Kreuz & Quer".
