The Netherlands Film Academy, usually referred to as "the film academy" (and by students as "the academy"), is located in Amsterdam at Mr. Visserplein.
The Film Academy is a faculty of the Amsterdam University of the Arts (AHK). The Academy offers a four-year higher professional education program, in which students are trained in all key functions of the film profession (see below). Students work in crews throughout the program and are supervised by experienced filmmakers. According to the website, the education focuses on "the creative, professional, technical and artistic development of the student". Since 2009, the Film Academy also offers a master's program in Film.
Pathé offers the Tuschinski Award, which is awarded annually to the director of the best final exam paper from this school.
