NMHH Media Council

The Media Council (Médiatanács) is an independent body of Hungary's National Media and Infocommunications Authority (Nemzeti Média- és Hírközlési Hatóság, NMHH) that reports to Parliament and oversees media services. From 2011 it ran the Hungarian Media Patronage Programme (Magyar Média Mecenatúra), which funded Hungarian documentaries, animated films and series, short and experimental films, television films and radio plays through open calls, as well as programmes and operating costs of local and community broadcasters. The programme's calls for filmmakers ended at the start of 2020, when support for such works passed to the National Film Institute; it continues to support radio and television media service providers.
