The Thunderbird Drone Festival is Oklahoma's first and only drone film festival and drone technology expo. Taking place August 13th & 14th of 2021 in Woodward Oklahoma, the in-person event offers a film festival for drone filmmakers from all over the world to showcase their work across various categories. The films featured in the festival will be hand-selected by a professional jury. Prizes will be awarded and attendees will celebrate together at an after party. The festival will take place at the historic and charming Woodward Arts Theatre. The theatre is restored from the 1920's and regularly hosts film festivals, plays, recitals, and concerts. All filmmakers selected for the festival will receive a certain number of free passes if they choose to attend. We encourage you to attend! Woodward is located in the Northwest part of Oklahoma. This area is full of western history, wide open spaces (perfect for flying drones), and beautiful sunsets. The festival will also feature a juried scavenger hunt we call ScavenDrone. ScavenDrone is hosted by our friends at Airvuz ( https://www.airvuz.com ) and will feature an Oklahoma and US/International category to enter. Entry is FREE! Each drone pilot who enters will be given a list of items and will have 48 hours from 12:00 am CST on July 9th to 11:59 PM CST on July 10th to take images of each of the items on that list from the air, edit, and submit. Various prizes will be awarded for the best images and more (locally and internationally). Find more details on how to enter ScavenDrone ar our website. The second day of the festival will feature a drone expo and panel on the drone industry followed by FPV races/demonstrations.
