31 years ago in sleepy Sonoma County, some 50 miles north of the Golden Gate Bridge, founders of the Wine Country Film Festival (WCFF) presented the region's first ever film festival! Never loosing sight of its mission to bring people, the arts and culture together, WCFF once again unfolds in gorgeous Sonoma Valley, California in September. In small town venues and outdoors under the stars, visitors and residents alike experience the best international and independent cinema the world has to offer.
Known as a Northern California cultural treasure, WCFF offers a carefully curates program of films, master classes, stimulating discussion and special events, often accompanied by live entertainment, dance performances, art exhibition and food and wine the region is famous for.
WCFF honors unsung and well-known talents alike. Patrick Swayze, Jonathan Demme, Dennis Hopper, Kirk Douglas, Nicolas Cage, Gregory Peck, Anthony Quinn, Rita Moreno, Keith Carradine, Martin Sheen, Ernest Borgnine, Lynn Redgrave, Anthony Edwards, Elliott Gould and Richard Harris are just a few of the big-screen luminaries who have been honored at WCFF. But more than star power, are the filmmakers who craft amazing films are at the heart of the WINE COUNTRY FILM FESTIVAL experience.
Competitive categories and screening blocks include The Arts In Film, EcoCinema, CineLatino, Cinema of Conscience, World Cinema, and First Features and Food On Film. The founders travel year round to festivals around the globe scouting for the very best and our programming committee is eager too see your films. We are interested in movies that make a difference - movies we like to say "have Heart."
