Toronto Film Forum (TFF) was initiated in 2014 with a view to focusing, screening and promoting alternative and independent film makers all over the world. With an initiative of film makers and film activists living in Canada, it arranged its 1st Multicultural Film Festival, Toronto in 2017 to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Canada. To honour the Canadian spirit of multiculturalism and harmonious co-existence, the festival was named as Multicultural Film Festival. The festival has already created a great scope to present the films of the film makers of different languages, ethnicities and cultures.
TFF had arranged its 1st, 2nd and 3rd Multicultural Film Festivals in 2017, 2018 and 2019 consecutively. The main venue of the festivals was at Fox Theatre which is the second oldest movie theatre in Canada founded in 1914. By selecting Fox Theatre as its main venue, Toronto Film Forum salutes the cinematic heritage of Canada.
Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, Toronto Film Forum did not arrange its film festival last year. As still the pandemic exists, this year the festival is going to be held on line. The 4th Multicultural Film festival, Toronto – 2021 will take place on September 23, 24, 25 and 26. Each day, films will be screened from 10 am to 10 pm apart from the Opening and Closing ceremonies.
