The Animasyros International Animation Festival is the largest festival of its kind in Greece and one of the largest in Europe. It was launched on 19 September 2008 on the island of Syros, Greece. Since then, Animasyros has taken place annually in the capital of the Cyclades complex, hosting more than 104,000 unique visitors.
The festival is organized into three main pillars: the artistic programme, educational programmes, and the Agora section. In addition to these, there are also parallel activities such as exhibitions, concerts, and parties.
Animasyros was initiated by the non-profit company Platforma-Urban Culture Co. The aim was to promote the art of animated film to audiences and to establish a creative meeting and networking hub for animation professionals at a pan-European and international level.
