Animasyros International Animation Festival

On the Greek island of Syros, ANIMASYROS combines an international animation programme with the Agora, its professional forum for developing and presenting new projects. Established in 2008, the festival centres its screenings and events on Hermoupolis, including the Apollon Theatre and the city’s cultural centre. Its competitions cover international and Greek films, student work, television and commissioned animation, LGBTQ+ stories, children’s films and feature-length animation.

Alongside the competitions, curated tributes and panorama screenings explore different traditions of animated filmmaking. Educational workshops address audiences of different ages, while the Agora includes pitching sessions, masterclasses and discussions about production, distribution and animation education.
