Animax Skopje Fest is an international festival of animated film in Skopje, North Macedonia, which its organisers present as the country's first festival devoted to animation. It is run by the production company Auripigment together with Tintiri-Mintiri, a Skopje NGO and film school, with support from the Macedonian Film Agency and, for the 2024 edition, the City of Skopje. Besides an open international competition, the programme includes thematic sections and special screenings, and the organisers hold seminars, forums and workshops meant to build an audience for animation and to connect Macedonian animators with artists abroad.

The competition has two categories, short animated films and animated films for children, and an international jury awards a Golden, Silver and Bronze Brick in each. The dates of the fifteenth edition in Skopje are 25–26 December 2024.

Awards and prizes

An international jury appointed by the organiser awards three prizes in each competition category (short animated films; animated films for children): Grand Prix – Golden Brick, Second Prize – Silver Brick, Third Prize – Bronze Brick. Additional prizes outside the festival statute may be given by private donors, institutions and organisations.

Festival rules

The festival programme consists of an open international animated film competition, thematic sections and special screenings. Films may be submitted by art schools, production companies, film institutions, independent artists and other qualified individuals. Submissions are accepted through FilmFreeway; there is no submission fee. Films in any animation technique are eligible if they were completed after 1 January of the year before the edition (for 2024: after 1 January 2023) and have not been entered at the festival before. Competition categories: short animated films; animated films for children. Screening copies must be Full HD (at least 1920x1080, H.264); tape and 35 mm formats are not accepted. An official English translation of the film is required. The art director (selector) and the festival board nominate the official selection. Films in competition may be shown more than three times during the festival and may be used in part for festival promotion; producers allow free non-commercial screenings after the festival, in North Macedonia and abroad, as part of festival promotion.
