Each city edition has its own submission call, nominees and winners. It accepts feature and short films, documentaries, experimental works, commercials, music videos, animation, student films, series, TV and new media, with separate categories for AI-made animation and VFX, film scores and sound design, screenplays, and fashion films and photography. Selection runs in two stages: monthly official selections voted on by the jury, staff and the festival's international community, followed by an annual round of nominees, finalists and winners. Screenings are held online, and the award events focus on networking. Finalists of the city editions meet at a joint award ceremony whose host city changes each year; for the 2026 editions it is in Berlin on 28 November 2026. Official selections are announced in the first week of every month. Selection has two stages: monthly and annual; the community, staff and judges see all films without sharing them publicly. The trailer and the full film need English subtitles. The same film may be entered in several categories and in several ARFF city editions (Barcelona, Paris, Amsterdam, Berlin). All screenings take place online, optionally with an in-person networking event; the award ceremony is ticketed. By submitting, the entrant confirms owning all rights to the film. A film cannot be withdrawn after its participation has been announced. Best Trailer\u002FTeaser is outside the annual competition.
