Art on the Screens is an annual public art series hosted by the City of Mississauga Public Art Program. As part of this series, we are excited to present digital-based work by local, national, and international artists on large outdoor screens. All genres in screen-based new media art may be accepted such as digital art, animation, game art, film or video. Large digital screens are ubiquitous. We see these screens as we drive down major roadways, as we walk through town squares. The majority of these screens are either completely programmed with advertising or supported through advertising. The screens at Mississauga Celebration Square however are completely the opposite. These screens are programmed to promote, support, and creatively enrich the community. There are on average around 400 visitors to Mississauga Celebration Square on Monday evenings through the summer. Screenings for Art on the Screens take place from 8:00-10:00 p.m. every Monday night from July to September.
