ATTENTION - Five Special Categories for 2022: - - - Digital Filmmaking: - "Project completely created on the Computer," (not Animation, since it has it's own category.) - - - A Simple Act of Kindness - Short Film on Covid-19, showing the best in human spirit. - - - Drone Photography/Cinematography Competition: "Eye of the Beholder."™ - - - Documenting History: "The Covid-19 Experience." - - - Community Hero: "A 10 minute or less Film about a Community Hero" We finish our 4th Year - This is a special inspirational and exciting kind of Film Festival scheduled to take place April 25, 2022, which highlights traditional Student Films, Documentaries, as well as Commercial Feature Films. The event will be held with live screenings at Sea Country Center in Laguna Niguel. (Additional Locations to be announced, giving filmmakers multiple opportunities to have their work viewed) and also at the "NEW" state of the art - Theaters in 2023. Some of the Film entered into the BCIFF are chosen to be shown multiple times, multiple theaters, and in multiple years given the quality as well as our judges supportive interest in the films or filmmaker. Some of the films entered also include the depiction of a character who is afflicted with emotional, mental, social or physical challenges. A Challenge/Disability/Handicap is any condition of the body or mind (impairment) that makes it more difficult for the person with the condition to do certain activities (activity limitation) and interact with the world around them (participation restrictions.) Some of the films are shown for pure inspirational value. The inspirational aspect of the character is positive, uplifting, and emotionally moving. This type of character does not have to be the star of the movie nor do they have to be a main character, some make very brief appearance while sometimes they are integral to the plot or story line. The winning entries can receive: Monetary Prizes, Certificates of Achievement, Recognition Plaques, Special Recognition, Honorable Mention trophy, and/or a unique custom blown glass award (1st Place & Outstanding Recognition). Special awards can be presented to nationally known inspirational figures, over achievers, persons living with disabilities. We also have a special "Community Hero" category in which a Filmmaker and the subject of the short "Community Hero" film are issued an Award. Our objective is to give an opportunity for young filmmakers and screenwriters to showcase their works, as well as giving our audience a unique experience while watching films that are not only inspirational but are entertaining. In essence, including some films you might not experience anywhere else. This includes movies long forgotten from “Hollywood’s Golden Age.” The proceeds from the Film Festival will go directly to Charities working to overcome life challenges including: Pediatric Cancer, Autism, Cerebral Palsy and New Directions for Veterans in Orange County. (We also schedule special screenings for Senior's, Disabled, and Veterans.)
