Bechdel Film Fest--Akron, OH

Akron, Ohio is the hometown of professional basketball player LeBron James, and rock n' rollers The Black Keys, DEVO, and Chrissie Hynde. Now it is also the city with an emerging feminist film festival, proud of its inclusivity! Bechdel Film Fest--Akron, OH is a winner of the Akron Knight Arts Challenge grant. Bechdel Film Fest will feature stories that pass the “Bechdel Test,” a standard which brings attention to gender inequality in film. Our festival hopes to feature works made by female directors, producers and actors, and stories including LGBTQ+ characters and gender non--conformity. All filmmakers are welcome to submit their films but each film must pass the Bechdel Test. We welcome feature-length films and shorts, fiction and non-fiction. We also have opportunities for family-friendly screenings. Our second event is May 28-May 31, 2019 in Akron, OH. We have five screening spaces with multiple screenings each of the five days of the festival. This is a great opportunity for a filmmaker to reach new audiences.
