CERVINO CINEMOUNTAIN

CERVINO CINEMOUNTAIN, the highest international mountain film festival in Europe, takes place at the foot of the Matterhorn (Cervino) and it's one of the most important cultural events in the Aosta Valley, Italy. The nature of its program and its aims make it, together with the Trento Film Festival, the most important festival dedicated to mountain films in Italy. As well as putting together the winning films of other IAMF (International Alliance for Mountain Film) festivals and awarding the “Oscar of the Oscars” for the best mountain film of the year, the festival offers a selection of top quality works which portray the mountains under all their different facets: environment, climate, adventure, sport, culture and history. CERVINO CINEMOUNTAIN hosts documentaries and fiction films, without duration limits. CERVINO CINEMOUNTAIN was created in 1998 at Breuil-Cervinia. Since then, the Festival has presented over 700 films representing the best of national and international works in this genre and it offers other type of events such as publishing presentations and special events. Its peculiarity is the vocation of being an original cultural initiative dealing with mountain in a “glocal” and multilevel sense. CERVINO CINEMOUNTAIN is an event supported and promoted by the Municipality of Valtournenche and organized by the Cultural Association Monte Cervino. xxxITALIANxxx Il CERVINO CINEMOUNTAIN, festival internazionale di film di montagna più alto d’Europa che si svolge ai piedi del Monte Cervino, è uno degli eventi centrali della programmazione culturale estiva della regione Valle d’Aosta. Se la sua posizione geografica (si svolge a quota 2000 metri) gli vale il titolo di Festival più alto del mondo, la natura del suo programma e dei suoi intenti lo configurano, assieme al Festival di Trento, come la più importante realtà interamente dedicata al cinema di montagna in Italia. Sin dalla prima edizione, nel 1998, è la montagna la vera protagonista, ma la montagna è anche il “pretesto” per affrontare tematiche strettamente correlate ad essa: l’ambiente, il clima, l’avventura, lo sport, la cultura e la storia. Tra i vari premi nelle diverse categorie, dal CAI, Club Alpino Italiano, viene assegnato quello per il miglior film di alpinismo. Fulcro della manifestazione è il Concorso che seleziona il meglio della filmografia di montagna rappresentato dai film vincitori dei Grand Prix nei festival del circuito IAMF (International Alliance for Mountain Film), decretando così l’Oscar degli Oscar della montagna e ospita, nelle altre sezioni (competitive e non), una accurata selezione delle migliori opere cinematografiche italiane e internazionali legate ai temi della montagna. Il Cervino CineMountain Festival è socio fondatore di IAMF, che riunisce 20 festival di film di montagna nel mondo e un museo (Museo Nazionale della Montagna di Torino), rappresentando 16 paesi di Europa, Asia e Sud America. Dalla sua nascita ad oggi il CineMountain ha presentato più di 700 film che rappresentano il meglio della cinematografia di genere nazionale ed internazionale. Il Cervino CineMountain è una manifestazione voluta e promossa dal Comune di Valtournenche e organizzata dall’Associazione Culturale Monte Cervino.
