Mountain Adventure Culture For more than two centuries, Chamonix has been the world capital of mountaineering. The name Chamonix echoes in the heart of all mountain lovers. This founding principle led to the creation of the Chamonix Film Festival. More than a film festival, we have imagined this event as a great celebration of the mountain, of adventure and of its culture. Because mountaineering was born in Chamonix, our ambition is to pass on a heritage that is two centuries old and to report on the current state of a mountain world that is undergoing rapid change. The selection was made by our organising committee. We focused on originality, quality and novelty. Our festival is about the cultural transmission of mountain adventure, and our selection reflects this transmission between history and current events.
