Chuncheon Film Festival(CCFF), which has been introducing independent films to Chuncheon citizens, is celebrating its 8th anniversary in 2021 and plans to meet audiences and filmmakers by focusing on independent SF films together with Chuncheon-si heading toward “Cinema City”.
CCFF is a film festival for Chuncheon citizens, cinephiles who love genre films, and filmmakers who make independent SF films. Our SF is standing for SAFE and FUTURISTIC. CCFF wants to discover the values of making a safer future in the movie. Therefore, CCFF is prepared two kinds of program, SF and Children&Youth.
SF films include all movies that try to solve various social problems such as environment, gender, racism, and refugees with scientific imagination. Since George Melies started Science Fiction with “A Trip To The Moon”, independent Sci-Fi films have been making for limited budgets by using more imagination and making excellent aesthetic accomplishments that cannot be achieved with advanced technology and finance alone. With the rapid development of science and civilization, the imagination and predictions that sci-fi films have been creating are becoming reality rather than fantasy. It is the reason that CCFF focuses on independent SF films.
Generally speaking, children and youth are our future. If that is true, we have to listen their voices. The CCFF aims to listen to the messages that children and youth filmmakers want to express through movies and focus on delivering their values to the world.
With the global disruption caused by covid 19, CCFF is striving to ensure a safe environment for its guests. In order to minimize the likelihood of covid 19 transmissions, extensive measures are being taken to ensure, to the best of our ability, that our venues are safe for attendees. CCFF is working in close cooperation with disinfection/medical institutes and observing social-distancing measures.
