Founded in 2018 by a group of young film professionals in NYC, CineCina Film Festival aims to bring the best of world cinema to New York. Through supporting young filmmakers and the creation of potential new works, CCFF is committed to becoming a primary force behind the development of the global film industry.
Following the success in fall and spring 2019, CineCina Film Festival is a transnational film festival in New York City that features new and independent cinema from the national cinemas of East Asia, North Africa, Eastern Europe, and Southern Europe. Films will be juried by a panel of notable directors, scholars, and critics from around the world, and will be eligible for categories of prizes.
The festival will also feature Project Horizon to welcome short and feature-length film projects that will be made available to pitch to distributors. Showcasing new talent in this way will give voice and opportunity to the next generation of filmmakers. This festival hopes to provide a platform for newcomers to gain exposure and share in the impact of their co-presentation to facilitate cultural exchange, understanding, and discourse.
The Horizon Award will be an opportunity for filmmakers to submit their films and have their work reviewed by a panel of industry professionals. Those who win a title at the end of the judging process will then be awarded tangible resources that may help them build a sustainable filmmaking career.
