2023
The Cinematika Festival, is a new music and film event. The first edition took place in Gdansk, Poland on November 2020. The festival is dedicated to film music, composers, performers - music artists, but also filmmakers themselves. As part of the first edition of the festival, there were three film music concerts and film screenings in four sections.
Due to pandemic constraints, the first edition was held online only. The concerts were broadcast from the Gdansk Shakespeare Theater and from the area of historical Imperial Shipyard. The main protagonist of the first edition of the festival was the Icelandic composer Jóhann Jóhannsson, one of the most talented European composers of contemporary and film music, who tragically died two years ago. His music was played by Nanook of the North: Piotr Kalinski and Stefan Wesolowski. The festival program also included films for which Jóhannsson wrote music.
The second edition of the festival is planned for October 2021. This time taking place in real. One of its new elements will be a new, international music video / short music feature competition. More information about the entire festival you will find at our website at: www.cinematika.pl
