Cinema Verde, an Environmental Film and Arts Festival in Gainesville, Florida, was created to raise awareness of environmental issues through the arts. We will hold our thirteenth annual festival February, 2022. Cinema Verde’s mission is to provide environmental education to the public through film, arts, workshops, events, tours and any other forum or media; to increase public awareness of environmental practices that enhance public health and improve quality of life in urban, suburban and rural settings. We bring community organizations, businesses and citizens together to help forge sustainable solutions for our future. We utilize a multi-disciplinary program of film, music, art, workshops, an eco-fair and eco-tours to connect participants with green initiatives in business, government and organizations seeking to solve environmental problems. Our vision is to expand the reach of environmental information to inspire, educate and engage participants in sustainable business and lifestyle solutions. Our festival reaches more than 3,000 participants with screenings of an international array of 25+ professional films plus student submissions at our annual festival and monthly events. We engage local government, sustainable businesses, environmental organizations, visitors and the community with parties, an eco-art show, eco-tours and an eco-fair. We open the festival with a VIP Reception, invite film directors to talk with our audiences following their films, hold a local pot luck honoring local farmers, host an eco-gallery; an Eco Fair with sustainable business and organizational booths, musical performances and promote eco-tours led by local guides showcasing the natural resources and green homes of the area. Come help us help you spread the word about environmental issues! *COVID NOTE* We transitioned to a virtual festival in 2021 to ensure the safety of our participants, which has opened up a wonderful new avenue for us: Cinema Verde Channel. We are showcasing selected films from our library and archives, and we will continue to build and maintain this exciting virtual venue. Our plan for 2022 is to host a VIP Opening Night Party and Award Ceremony, then continue presenting our festival selections online in festival format. Our 2022 Cinema Verde film selections will then be featured on our Cinema Verde Channel, creating many more opportunities for viewing. Cinema Verde is a not-for-profit environmental film festival produced by www.GoGreenNation.org to help build sustainable communities. Cinema Verde is funded in part by a Tourist Development Tax Grant from the Alachua County Board of County Commissioners in conjunction with the Alachua County Tourist Development Council and by the State of Florida Division of Cultural Arts. We welcome sponsorship inquiries and support!
