The mission of Cine Las Americas is to promote cross-cultural understanding and growth by educating, entertaining and challenging the diverse Central Texas community through film and media arts.
Cine Las Americas is a multi-cultural, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in Austin Texas, offering theatrical screenings of films made by or about Latinos or Indigenous peoples of the Americas. Films from Spain and Portugal are also included, creating a truly Pan-American cinematic experience.
In May 2018, in addition to welcoming over 3,000 audience members for films and special events, the festival also welcomed guest filmmakers, musicians, and other artists from all over the Americas. The CLAIFF21 program selections included a total of 126 titles — 39 feature films, 65 short films and videos, 16 music videos, and 6 PSAs. These selections represented 30 countries’ participation in the production or co-production of the projects, including: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, France, French West Indies, Germany, Guadeloupe, Guatemala, Honduras, India, Mexico, Nicaragua, Nigeria, Panama, Peru, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Spain, Sweden, The Netherlands, Uganda, UK, USA, and Venezuela.
