Collected Voices 2021 is looking for the best films made by amateur and professional filmmakers about life in Chicago and abroad. This year Collected Voices theme is Revival! We are looking for stories that make renewal, resurrection, repair, reprise, rest and revival the main themes. Films can be made any year, and any length.
As we still anticipate Covid restrictions to in person screenings, all films will be available online during the film festival season. Viewers will select their favorite films for award nomination. Awards screening will be followed by Q&A with filmmakers and award announcements.
Collected Voices features original ethnographic media that explore the intersection of race, age, class, gender, and sexuality within Chicago and society. The goal of the festival is to introduce the ethnographic genre to non-academic communities through short and feature length films and highlight Chicago based artists. The festival also increases exposure for independent filmmakers, and fosters a dialogue between media artists, academics and marginalized communities.
