For several years now, Courts d’un soir Festival has been promoting short cinema in all its forms. Much more than a short film festival, Courts d’un soir is the first Montreal festival to showcase talents coming from the short films, short form series and music videos industries within the same festival.

A local festival, with an international vocation. The Festival Courts d’un soir promotes both national and international cinema by offering competitions for short films that represent the view of emerging filmmakers on today’s world. In 2023, our short form series competitions are also opening up internationally. In addition, the Festival obtains the status of Canadian Screen Awards qualifying festival in 2022.

Born in 2017 out of a desire to showcase Quebec and international short films in theaters, the Courts d’un soir Festival has since experienced dazzling growth. Although its main mission remains the democratization of the short format among Montreal audiences and the recognition of emerging talents, the festival's commitment goes beyond the simple broadcasting of short films. The festival also aims to:

Serve as a springboard for the next generation by professionalizing young filmmakers;

Equip the futur filmmakers through education in the short film format;

Unite the short film industry by encouraging collaboration between the various players in the field, whether they come from short films, short series or music videos.

The Courts d’un soir Festival has become an essential festival in Montreal by offering a variety of quality content, otherwise difficult to access on the big screen. It finds its uniqueness in the support it offers to young professionals in the film industry through award ceremonies and training and networking workshops with the aim of offering structuring tools to the next generation. The festival also gives a voice to future filmmakers via its Aspiring Filmmakers Competition. The festival mobilizes professionals from the short film industry as much as the general public, families and young filmmakers in the making.
