DETROIT BLACK FILM FESTIVAL

The 3rd annual Detroit Black Film Festival is excited to showcase the voices and stories of Black independent filmmakers. Our goal is to elevate narratives that center the experiences and culture of Black people worldwide. Our festival is dedicated to screening excellent, high quality films from seasoned and emerging filmmakers. We strive to support filmmakers on their journey as artists and to provide an exceptional platform for their work. We welcome submissions from the following categories: * Narrative Features * Documentary Features * Short Films (Narrative or Documentary) * Web Series * Animation * Student Films (18 and Older) * Poetry ( film/video) *Photography This is an individual competition.( MUST BE 18 0R 0LDER) African American USA resident A Video/Film must be recorded after January 2020 Time limit is 7-10 Minutes. Participants will be judged on the basis of content, fluency, spontaneity, presentation & sense of humor. 1st place winner. "I'm Just Joking!" 30min televised show ( streamed ) 3rd place $250 2nd place $500 Judges: Bryan Smiley ( Hart Beat Productions ) The 2nd annual Detroit Black Film Festival will be held on September 21-26 2022, at the newly renovated Marlene Boll Theater in Downtown Detroit, Michigan. Our Duke & Dame Award Ceremony will be at the Fabulous Garden Theater in Midtown Detroit. Dwayne is new to the art world and has been turning heads for a couple of years now as he strives to take it further. Digital art has so many obstacles and different paths. Thousands of ways to do all types of things in the graphic world.... which he has developed a style of his own. Dwayne has had his art in galleries in New York and New Jersey and on sale in Montclair NJ. and has been featured on NBC news channel 4. Also The Fashion Institute of Art in New York has had his works on display for Black History month. "My art speaks volumes for itself. Every piece is made with the intention of turning an image into something that speaks to each person individually. Making images more powerful with vivid imagination,color and a style of my own. I believe a picture should speak to you when you look at it. Being the center of attention to the mind with just a glance. My inspirations are Basquiat, Ernie Barns and Wak because of their abilities to make art say something and further more stand for something. بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ Dwayne Jones About the Fearless Tribe of Fanatic Filmmakers Spearheaded by Marshalle Montgomery Favors and Lazar Favors, "The Fearless Tribe of Fanatic Filmmakers," is a project that will uplift the stories made by film creatives. The Tribe currently consists of 25, independent filmmakers. The project will showcase their work to audiences in Detroit in innovative settings such as art galleries, college campuses, museums, and community/neighborhood spaces. One of its goals is to inspire more diverse stories about people of color to be created and screened in Detroit communities. The project was one of 25 winners of the Knight Arts Challenge that received a share of $1.46 million. Knight also recently announced an additional $20 million in Detroit’s arts community over the next five years, including a reinvestment in the Knight Arts Challenge. Trinity Films Entertainment Group (TFEG) is a production company that specializes in producing Television series & independent feature films. Our mission is to establish a economic empowerment for African American filmmakers worldwide while highlighting a spectrum of stories reflecting African American experiences, narratives & culture.
