Dividing Lines: An African American and Native American Symposium

Co-Sponsored by the Afro-Amerindian Research & Cultural Center, & the Global South Research Consortium. This interdisciplinary symposium will center on African American an Native American interaction as well as how topics related to these interactions, their overall relevance and how these have been/can be incorporated in various fields. The goal is to address the often overlooked interactions between Africans and Indigenous populations throughout the Americas in an interdisciplinary fashion, laying the groundwork for more comprehensive studies in the future. This symposium will include presentations from KSU faculty, staff and students as well as outside scholars, institutions, community organizations and figures. Mid-day, the symposium will include a screening of short films made by African, African American, Native American and Latinx filmmakers. Following the screenings, a discussion on artistic perspectives will be discussed.
