The DRIVE-IN Film Festival is a Brooklyn-based not-for-profit that has been bringing new, family friendly independent films to drive-in theaters free of charge for nine years.
At their peak, there were anywhere from 4,000 to 5,000 drive-ins across the United States – there are fewer than 400 left today, and the numbers are continuing to dwindle. Our mission is to raise awareness about a great American tradition while bringing independent films to drive-ins across the country. We aim to support the business of family-owned drive-ins.
The festival includes screenings and other fun activities for people of all ages – all proceeds from festival events go to the drive-in. We add to any current programming to theaters, or we are able to provide a full evening’s event.
Along with screenings at drive-ins across the country, we also participate in digital screenings and community events within New York City.
