Festival de Cine La Orquídea Cuenca

La Orquidea” - Cuenca International Film Festival is focused essentially on fiction features; it takes place every November in the city of Cuenca in Ecuador. The Festival comprises six sections, four of which are competitive: Long feature International Competition, First Feature Ibero-American Competition, an Ecuadorian Short Film Competition and “En Marcha” (In progress). After three successful editions, which gathered more than 64.000 spectators, the Festival is positioning itself as one of the main cultural events in Ecuador and aspires to further increase its presence in the region. Several prominent international film professionals have given workshops and master classes during the Festival. In past editions we have welcomed speakers from Spain, Mexico, Chile, Argentina, Brazil, the United States, among others. This year, we will also be hosting a Screenplay Laboratory to improve the quality of projects from Peru, Ecuador, Bolivia and Venezuela. Several leading screenwriters from the United States and Latin America will be tutoring the projects. The admission to all the events at “La Orquidea” Cuenca Film Festival is free.
