Films for the Forest

Films for the Forest (F3) is an annual international short film challenge that convenes, empowers, and activates global audiences with stories of optimism, connection, and hope that inspire action for the world's rainforests. Since 2012, a selection of F3 films have screened as part of SXSW Community Screening every March in Austin, Texas. Rainforest Partnership will also have a hybrid screening of its own during the week of Earth Day and following screenings connected with World Rainforest Day, Climate Week and COP. The theme for the 2022 competition year is : "Awaken. Energize. Transform." This year we’re challenging filmmakers to create and share films that will inspire and move audiences to take powerful action that changes the future of our forests. Films for the Forest are films shot in, about or somehow relating to rainforests or the animals and people that depend on them. Our goal is to create awareness about the importance of tropical rainforests and the ongoing threats faced by forests and their communities, through the powerful medium of film.
