FILMTEENTH International Film Festival

The inaugural FILMTEENTH International Film festival is a celebration of the national Juneteenth federal holiday in the Washington, DC suburb of Reston, Va. FILMTEENTH is a true recognition of the importance and impact of diversity in film, the performing Arts and technology. We strive to showcase exciting, powerful films which not only entertain but reflect the contributions of people-of-color. It is also an annual STEAM (Science Technology Engineering Arts & Math) fundraising and tech networking event by Vector Scholar, a 501(3)c which provides technology career skills for underserved youth. The festival brings together some of Washington DC's most sophisticated film enthusiasts. The city of Reston is in the heart of the Northern Virginia technology corridor and an east coast hub of some of the world's largest technology providers such as Microsoft, Google, and Oracle. Our goal is to showcase exceptional and entertaining film storytelling with impactful and diverse characters. FILMTEENTH screenings are held at the Bow Tie Theaters, a state of the art movie theater with eleven screens and walking distance to ten restaurants, major hotels, and access to the Washington DC Metro subway system. We welcome filmmakers who seek to be a part of a unique inaugural annual event which merges DC metropolitan area film, performing arts and technology. We welcome submissions in the genres of drama, documentaries, romance, thriller, animation, sci-fi, comedy, horror and performing arts.
