Our first GlobalGirl Media Film Festival was held from 18-21 March 2021. Thanks to all the filmmakers and all those who attended. It was a huge success! Watch this space for details of our next festival! * * * * * * * * * * * * * * OFFICIAL SELECTION OF 36 SHORT FILMS FROM AROUND THE WORLD. 22 GlobalGirl films. A fully online event, with a rich programme of films, live speakers and Q&As, and exclusive networking and workshop events via Zoom! GlobalGirl Media UK, the charity that empowers young women through digital media training, along with GGM International, are proud to announce their first GlobalGirl Media Film Festival. Our mission is to change the male-dominated media landscape, bringing more young women’s voices to the fore - in front of and behind the cameras. We invite submissions BY, FOR and FEATURING GIRLS and YOUNG WOMEN that present their unique perspectives and the issues that concern them. At our short film festival, there’ll also be industry speakers and workshops to inspire and inform you, including a taster session of our GGM UK Summer Academy (which is open to young women aged 14-22). We’re excited to be broadening the festival scene for diverse young female filmmakers. Open our eyes, surprise us, disturb us, move us with your vision and insight into communities and topics that the world needs to know about. PLEASE NOTE: * Films that are over 20 minutes in length will unfortunately be disqualified. * Please be sure to include gender and age of the director, who should be a self-identifying woman aged 14-30 (not yet turned 31 by the submission deadline of 1 Nov 2020). * Student entries will only be accepted if we receive proof of your student status * Film subject matter should reflect young women’s life experience and concerns, and feature girls or women. We don’t want to be overly prescriptive about this criterion, but at the same time won't accept films that are completely off-topic such as horror or a male-centric story
