Houses for Warriors, Inc., the sponsor (“Sponsor”) of this student film contest is a tax-exempt 501 ©(3) nonprofit that seeks submission of short-films to raise awareness and support for homeless veterans in the United States. According to the National Coalition for Homeless Veterans, there are currently 37,000 homeless veterans living in the United States today. According to Denver Post, Colorado's homeless veteran population of 1,181 is now nearly as high as the state of New York, which has 1,248 homeless veterans, the HUD report says. Colorado's overall homeless population increased by 721, or 13 percent, from 2015 to 2016, the report says CALL TO ACTION: Submit a [live-action] 2-minute to 10-minute film that tells a story about military veteran homelessness. You are encouraged to use drama, realism, humor, truth, creativity and your talent to tell the most effective story. Your video submission should: • Raise awareness about the growing issue surrounding our nation’s veterans and homelessness. • Be moving and informative with clear call to actions. • Inspire our viewers to make a charitable donation to our mission • Your submission should be authentic, moving, have good sound and cinematography You must include at end of your video the [provided Logo]. Visit the link below to receive your Entry Package: https://housesforwarriors.org/film-contest-student-young-filmmakers-awareness-on-veteran-homelessness/ Entries will be evaluated based on the following judging criteria: * Creativity (40%) * Technical Merit (30%) * Adherence to the Assignment (30%) *If your film is selected you may be required to provide additional deliverables like artwork, a trailer, high res version of your film, etc. HOW THE WINNERS ARE DETERMINED: The contest is hosted in two rounds. From the first round of accepted entries, the top 5 film submissions–in each of the three [3] categories– with the most votes and the top 5 preliminary jury selected entries from each category will advance to the finals round. From the finalists, a jury panel comprising representatives from Houses for Warriors will select the top 10 film submissions from either category. From the top 10 finalist films, we will award a Grand Prize winner for each category, an additional 7 Honorable Mentions. ELIGIBILITY: Houses for Warriors’ Film Contest (hereafter referred to as the “Contest”) is open to students from grade 9 through college and recent college graduates (within 4 years), as per the appropriate entrant category. We accept USA submissions only. No purchase is necessary to enter the contest, but entrants are liable for any taxes or costs incurred for entering. Employees, sponsors, and family members of Houses for Warriors, Inc. (the Non-Profit hereafter referred to as “Sponsor” or “HFW”) are not eligible. All entrants must complete the Entrant Oath and Permission Form provided in your confirmation email. The form must be signed online by a parent or legal guardian for an entrant under the age of 18 where the legal guardian accepts responsibility and has read these official rules on behalf of the entrant.
