Just Film Festival (Birmingham) is a two week online film festival mixing feature length and short films that help us to imagine a better world. It runs online from 18 June - 4 July 2021. The festival will include ten feature films and 20 shorts in a variety of genres including drama, documentary and animation. Our members have already suggested feature length films from a wide range of established and emerging filmmakers. We are inviting submissions of short films of up to 5 minutes duration. The Festival is being run by Birmingham Co-operative Film Society, with support from Central England Co-op and the Co-operative News. Birmingham Co-operative Film Society (aka Birmingham Film Co-op) has been screening monthly social justice films under the slogan "Just Film: for a fairer world" since 2010. The culmination of the festival will be an in-person awards ceremony and film screening at The Warehouse Cafe in Digbeth, Birmingham - part of the building where we hold regular monthly screenings. The event will be on the afternoon of Sunday 4th July from 3.30-7.00pm. The awards will be presented by festival sponsors/partners, Debbie Robinson, Chief Executive of Central England Co-operative Ltd. (an £800M retail co-op society) and Rebecca Harvey, Executive Editor of Co-op News (a UK and international news service for the Co-operative Movement). See www.justfilm.coop/festival for more details.
