Its programmes show work beyond conventional narrative cinema, on the threshold between visual art and film: from found footage, flicker film and animation to essay forms, on celluloid and digital formats. The festival dates back to 1998. Two juried competitions form its core: an International Competition selected from well over a thousand submissions each year, and a Swiss Competition that receives around 200 entries a year from all language regions of the country. Alongside them run artist focus programmes, a guest programme, expanded cinema and live acts, workshops and a children's programme. Screenings take place at Cinema Z3 on the Zeughaus site in Zurich, with the festival centre at Kunstraum Walcheturm. The 29th edition runs 21–30 May 2027.",false,[23],{"year":24,"hasAwards":21,"hasSelection":16},"2021",[],{"aboutHtml":27,"countries":28,"focus":30,"categories":31,"nextDates":33,"awardsPrizes":34,"rules":35,"website":36,"contacts":37,"editDate":54},"\u003Cp>Videoex is a festival of experimental film and video in Zurich and the only festival in Switzerland devoted explicitly to experimental moving-image work presented in a cinema setting.
