Founded in 2003, it is organised by the Vilanima film studio, the public institution Filmų štrichai and ASIFA Lithuania, the national branch of ASIFA. Competition programmes cover short and feature-length films, work for children and for adults, debut and student films, abstract experimental animation and music videos, judged by an international jury, a children's jury and the audience. Films made by children and amateurs run in a separate programme. Beyond the competition, the festival presents retrospectives of animation masters, workshops and master classes. After the Vilnius screenings, the programmes travel to other Lithuanian towns, including Kaunas, Klaipėda, Panevėžys and Šiauliai.
