Finále Plzeň surveys Czech audiovisual production through competitions for feature live-action and animated films, documentaries, television and internet projects, and student shorts. The festival takes place in Pilsen, Czech Republic, and includes Czech co-productions alongside national productions. International professional juries and student juries assess the competition programmes.

Non-competitive sections include premieres and previews, a ZOOM focus on a selected country or region, and contemporary German cinema. Industry activities include panel discussions, project presentations and the Czech Film Springboard platform. The festival dates back to 1968 and is organised by Film Servis Plzeň. The dates for the 2026 edition are 25–30 September 2026.

Awards and prizes

Golden Kingfisher awards recognise the best feature live-action or animated film, documentary, television and internet production, and student short film. Independent international juries select the statutory winners. Under the 2026 regulations, the feature and documentary awards each include CZK 25,000 and a glass award from Kolektiv Ateliers. Student juries also award non-statutory prizes; further non-statutory awards may be presented by agreement with the organiser.

Festival rules

2026 competition regulations: Entries must be submitted by an authorised producer or co-producer. Czech productions and Czech co-productions are eligible for the feature, documentary and television competitions. Feature live-action, animated or combined films and documentaries must run at least 60 minutes. Czech student short films must run no more than 30 minutes and are submitted by their school. Eligible works are produced in 2025 or 2026, with the relevant festival, distribution or television premiere between 1 October 2025 and 30 September 2026. Previously entered works are excluded. The submission deadline is 31 May 2026; selection screeners must be available by 15 June 2026. Selected feature, documentary and television works require an English-subtitled copy or the specified bilingual dialogue/subtitle materials by 31 August 2026 unless otherwise agreed. Selection is made by the festival; submission does not guarantee inclusion. Selected works may not be withdrawn after official submission.
