Melbourne Overlooked Film Festival

We’re looking for short films that are hidden gems, overlooked films that are hidden in plain sight, unconventional and under appreciated. Films that explore the weird and wonderful, films that don’t just fit the mould, they break it! If you believe you have a short film like this we’d love for you to submit it to The Melbourne Overlooked Film Festival! Due to the current COVID-19 lockdown in Melbourne, Australia, the Melbourne Overlooked Film Festival will no longer be held at The Capitol Theatre and will now be running entirely online from the 11th to 12th of June. While this is not the situation we had hoped or planned for, we still believe we will be able to honour the films and ethos of MOFF in an online environment. If you have any questions about our switch to online please refer to our website for more information or email programming@moffrmit.com Films submitted should be no more than 40 minutes in run time and if your film is in a language other than English please provide English subtitles with your submission. We want to build an inclusive festival that showcases works from people with diverse backgrounds and identities. Fees will be waived for First Nations filmmakers and for filmmakers with a disability. We’ll be running an Early Bird Special for submissions from the 29th of April to the 6th of May. Regular submission fees will apply from the 7th of May to the 28th of May. No promotional films will be accepted and any film that promotes hate speech, sexism, homophobia, or racism will be immediately rejected and the submission fee will not be reimbursed. We would like to acknowledge that we are working and screening on the unceded land of the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation and pay our respects to their elders past, present and emerging. Always was, always will be Aboriginal Land.
