On the occasion of the celebration of the International Human Rights Day, from December 2 to 12, 2021 we will present the 3rd edition of the HUMAN RIGHTS FILM FESTIVAL in Venezuela, organized by the non-profit civil association, CIRCUITO GRAN CINE. Based on the concept of cinema as a tool for citizen training, this association has dedicated 25 years to the dissemination of cinema of cultural diversity and the defense and promotion of Human Rights in the country.
This third edition of the MIRADAS DIVERSAS Human Rights Film Festival becomes a competitive film event for the first time. It intends to give space and recognition to short films and feature films of fiction and/or documentary produced after 2018. In addition to other activities, the MIRADAS DIVERSAS Festival is opening a contest to award fiction or documentary films, of short or feature-length, which address issues related to the defense and promotion of human rights and which disseminate alternative experiences of change. With this contest Gran Cine seeks to encourage the production of this type of films as well as the debate and critical reflection through the participants’ work and proposals. We want to present new perspectives committed to social change and the full observance of human rights. In short, we are looking for works that can make it possible to change unjust realities and propose a better world.
