NJ Young Filmmakers Festival

The New Jersey Young Filmmakers’ Festival (NJYFF) is a project of the Thomas A. Edison Media Arts Consortium. The mission of NJYFF is to support and promote the work of young emerging filmmakers, who either live in or attend school in the State of New Jersey. NJYFF gives students the opportunity to submit their films to a highly respected and long-running film festival and have it evaluated by prominent representatives in the field of film and media. Since the very beginning of New Jersey Young Filmmakers in 1975, the purpose of the festival has been to recognize, celebrate, and encourage emerging young talent in New Jersey, the state in which Thomas Edison first developed the motion picture. This year the Festival Premiere will be held for the award-winning filmmakers and their families only, on Wednesday evening August 4th under the stars at Shipyard Park in Hoboken, NJ adjacent to the Hoboken Historical Museum, our home base. The program of winning films will also be presented virtually and will be free to view to the general public on the Thomas Edison Film Festival website. This year, due to COVID-19 restrictions, the premiere event protocol will be announced based on regulations determined by the State of NJ.
