PBIFF is unlike any other film festival in America. We are renowned for showing filmmakers a good time with our parties and special events. 120 films were screened in 2015, of which 50 were foreign, representing 24 countries. Nearly 80 features were presented, including 30 World, International, North American, and US Premieres. Over 60 filmmakers and actors chose to attend. Many made the trip here at their own expense from countries such as Canada, Israel, Spain, the United Kingdom (UK), and Venezuela, to name just a few. In its second year, our popular sidebar “The Jewish Experience” featured 32 Jewish and Israeli-centric films, including 10 from Israel. PBIFF has unique partnerships with two of the world’s leading film festivals. In a first-ever collaboration of its kind, the world-renowned Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) joined forces with us in 2014. In addition, our partnership with the Sundance Institute is a first for this esteemed organization. For the 21st PBIFF in 2016, a number of changes are in store. The “New” Palm Beach International Film Festival, under new management, will be a destination for distributors and exhibitors to screen films and meet filmmakers, as we've formed a unique partnership with international and domestic distribution outlets, along with independent theater owners and film bookers from around the country. Following the 2015 Festival, we moved into our own venue, The Palm Beaches Theatre, which will be PBIFF's new year-round home. These facts make us unique among film festivals as not only do filmmakers have the opportunity to have their work shown at PBIFF but also get a theatrical run at commercial movie theaters, including our own. For the third year, “The Jewish Experience” will offer a program of Jewish and Israeli-centric movies. In addition, PBIFF 2016 opens the door to genre fans and filmmakers with a new submission category and competition jury award for Horror Features. We’re also excited to be offering cash prizes to the winners of the four juried competitions and audience award. The presence of filmmakers from around the world, along with patrons and press and cinephiles from throughout the region, help ensure PBIFF’s place as one of America’s top film festivals.
