Portland Underground Cinema Expo

It's time for Rip City's underground to emerge! We're seeking filmmakers based in Oregon to be included in a short film showcase. This is not a traditional festival. There are no prizes or judges, just people supporting each other and showcasing their work. Submission fees are a scam, so we don't have any. Free submission! The selections will be featured in a single screening at the Chapel Theatre on Jan. 8 for an audience of film lovers and filmmakers. We are also working on plans to release a compilation of the selected films, but that is not yet finalized. What we want: We're biased toward lower budgets and experimentation. We welcome movies shot on: phones, 8mm, web cams, back up cams, DSLRs. Animated films are also welcome. Who we are: Take Your Medicine and Smile is a D.I.Y. production company founded in 2015 that produced the work of both James Tyler Shaw and Also Nonas. We also create opportunities for underground filmmakers to meet each other, support each other and create together.
