The thematic focus of the award is in fact centered on sustainable development, with particular attention to the objectives set by the UN in this field for 2030: to defeat poverty and hunger, to benefit from an education that is of quality, to build more and more the dignity of work, to reduce inequality, to rethink the effects of climate change. All short films that have as their objective the narration of at least one of the 17 "Sustainable Development Goals" of the UN will be welcomed. YOUNG & SHORT is also aimed at the category of women screenwriters, authors and directors that is not always adequately represented. The award therefore aims to encourage enthusiasm for a job that often has a very low percentage of female presence when the number of women involved in the realization of a project is made public. Another reference objective promoted by the UN is the tenth one, that is "Reduce inequality within and among Nations" that together with the eleventh objective "Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, durable and sustainable" can be centered on multiculturalism: the Multicultural Young & Short prize will be awarded by the refugee women guests in Rome, at the structure Casa di Giorgia of Centro Astalli, active since 1999. In order to create a concrete opportunity and therefore to give visibility to a short film that does not yet have distribution, the artistic jury will choose the YOUNG & SHORT - Premio Corto nel Cassetto to the work that does not yet have a distribution: Son of a Pitch will promote and distribute it by offering the support of an effective communication, without costs to be incurred by the author of the short film, which will be borne by Save The Cut. The initiative is on an international basis and is aimed at all young Europeans up to the age of 30 years who have made a short film with a maximum duration of 15 minutes: whether fiction, documentary or animation, which are also able to experiment, mixing genres of film. By establishing YOUNG & SHORT Save The Cut wants to reward a "young" vision of audiovisuals, so the award is aimed at projects on which young people have put themselves at stake on various fronts (content, form, style, etc.), especially in the case of their debut in the world of writing and directing. YOUNG & SHORT is an award that gives space in fact to the first works, but does not exclude those who, perhaps in their second or third work, have shown that they have put themselves at stake and have experimented with the genre and with the story. The award is in its first edition but boasts a collaboration with cinemaitaliano.info, a portal with over 10 years of activity and 9000 daily contacts, which will present, together with Save The Cut, the winners in the prestigious setting of the Hotel Excelsior of the Venice Lido, during the Venice International Film Festival 2021. This collaboration with Cinemaitaliano.info was born because among the common goals there is the promotion of the film culture of Italian cinema, starting from short films and the promotion of awards in Italian festivals. In this sense, Cinemaitaliano.info has many collaborations with the Festival dei Popoli in Florence, the Ortigia Film Festival in Syracuse, where every year the "Truly Independent" Award is given to the Best Film, Actor and Actress. The goal is to make YOUNG & SHORT an annual event within the prestigious framework of the Venice International Film Festival, which is increasingly attentive to young talents and the contemporary world, with the common goal of building a fairer, more sustainable, more human scale society. In order to allow equal participation opportunities to all young authors who wish to send their short film for selection, the application will be free for all. ****************************************** YOUNG & SHORT è il premio cinematografico che l’agenzia e casa di produzione Save The Cut, attraverso il progetto Son of a Pitch, vuole istituire per mettere al centro i cortometraggi realizzati da giovani talenti sui temi della sostenibilità. Il focus tematico del premio è infatti centrato sullo sviluppo sostenibile, con particolare attenzione agli obiettivi prefissati dall’ONU in questo campo per il 2030: sconfiggere la povertà e la fame, usufruire di un’istruzione che sia di qualità, costruire sempre di più la dignità del lavoro, ridurre le disuguaglianze, ripensare agli effetti del cambiamento climatico. Saranno accolti tutti i cortometraggi che abbiamo come obiettivo il racconto di almeno uno dei 17 “Sustainable Development Goals” dell’ONU. YOUNG & SHORT, si rivolge anche a quella categoria non sempre adeguatamente rappresentata delle donne sceneggiatrici, autrici e registe. Il premio vuole quindi incentivare l’entusiasmo per un lavoro che spesso ha una percentuale molto bassa di presenza femminile quando si rende pubblico il numero delle donne coinvolte nella realizzazione di un progetto. Un altro obiettivo di riferimento promosso dall’Onu è il decimo, ossia “Ridurre l’ineguaglianza all’interno di e fra le Nazioni” che insieme all’undicesimo obiettivo “Rendere le città e gli insediamenti umani inclusivi, sicuri, duraturi e sostenibili” può essere centrato sul multiculturalismo: il premio Multicultural Young & Short sarà infatti assegnato dalle donne rifugiate ospiti a Roma, presso la struttura Casa di Giorgia del Centro Astalli, attiva dal 1999. Nell’ottica di creare un’opportunità concreta e quindi di dare visibilità a un corto che non ha ancora distribuzione la giuria artistica sceglierà il YOUNG & SHORT - Premio Corto nel Cassetto al lavoro che non ha ancora una distribuzione: Son of a Pitch si occuperà di promuoverlo e distribuirlo offrendo il supporto di una comunicazione efficace, senza costi da sostenere per l’autore del corto, di cui si farà carico Save The Cut. L’iniziativa è su base internazionale ed è volta a tutti i giovani europei fino al compimento dei 30 anni di età che hanno realizzato un cortometraggio della durata massima di 15 minuti: che siano di finzione, documentari o animazione, che siano capaci anche di sperimentare, mescolando i generi cinematografici. Istituendo YOUNG & SHORT Save The Cut vuole premiare una visione “young” dell’audiovisivo, quindi il premio è rivolto a progetti sui quali i giovani si siano messi in gioco su vari fronti (contenuto, forma, stile, ecc.), specialmente nel caso del loro esordio nel mondo della scrittura e della regia. YOUNG & SHORT è un premio che dà spazio infatti ai primi lavori, ma non esclude chi, magari alla seconda o terza opera, abbia dimostrato di essersi messo in gioco e di aver sperimentato con il genere e con il racconto. Il premio è alla prima edizione ma vanta una collaborazione con cinemaitaliano.info, portale da oltre 10 anni di attività e 9000 contatti giornalieri, che presenterà, insieme a Save The Cut i vincitori nella prestigiosa cornice dell’Hotel Excelsior del Lido di Venezia, durante la Mostra Internazionale d’arte cinematografica di Venezia 2021. Questa collaborazione con Cinemaitaliano.info è nata perché tra gli obiettivi in comune c’è quello di promuovere la cultura cinematografica del cinema italiano, iniziando proprio dai cortometraggi e dalla promozione di premi in festival italiani. In questo senso Cinemaitaliano.info ha all’attivo numerose collaborazioni tra cui quella con il Festival dei Popoli di Firenze, l'Ortigia Film Festival di Siracusa, dove annualmente viene assegnato il Premio “Veramente Indipendente” al Miglior Film, Attore ed Attrice. L’obiettivo è quello di far diventare YOUNG & SHORT un appuntamento annuale all’interno della prestigiosa cornice della Mostra internazionale d’arte cinematografica di Venezia, sempre più attenta ai giovani talenti e alla contemporaneità, con lo scopo comune di costruire una società più giusta, più sostenibile, più a misura d’uomo.
