The 11th Annual Queens World Film Festival ran June 23 - July 3 2021 as a sprawling hybrid event featuring 198 films from 31 nations screening online with 142 of those films also screening in-person in 5 venues across Queens. We returned with our signature thematic programming, grouping films that are exploring similar themes together to create specific cinematic experiences followed by a Q&A after every screening. This practice promises that first time audiences can find the themes and films they are interested in easily. Our 2021 theme of HOPE (Healing Opportunities Promote Equity) resonated with our audiences and the reunions of team members and families in the venue lobbies were a vital element of our live experience. We were thrilled to gather together, finally, again. Thanks to our streaming partners, FilmFestivalFlix.com, all of our Spirit of Queens Honorees at Elmhurst Hospital Center were provided a free all access festival pass to the virtual festival. We will continue to honor these 'Heroes of Elmhurst' with ongoing free screenings at the hospital with our lunchtime Movies on the Menu program. FilmFestivalFlix.com provided a unique viewing experience to patrons from 39 nations. We found their attention to detail and customer support to be incredible as we navigated our way through a gigantic hybrid event. We are excited to move into the next phase of our relationship with FFF which includes creating a streaming channel for our Alumni. Traditionally, Queens World includes a well-attended multi-day annual film festival, year-round screening opportunities for QWFF alumni, special events to bring the Indie film community together and an educational initiative for youth and seniors. However, the landscape changes daily. While we figure out OUR next move, please stay focused on what you are passionate about. This is a tough time on our planet, now is not the time to put your cameras down, nor is it the time to stop supporting our storytellers. We value all of you. Be well and we will see you in Queens.
