The Sicilymovie - Festival del cinema di Agrigento is a festival of short films, documentaries, videoclip and animation shorts, created and organized by Southmovie Association, which brings an elite outdoor cinema to the heart of Sicily: in fact to the evocative Valley of the Temples of Agrigento. The themes addressed in the works of directors from all over the world are manifold: rural development in the Mediterranean region, hospitality, people and places that seek to change the world, cultural and technological innovation. The sixth edition of Sicilymovie is aimed at the production of short films capable of telling, with less obvious languages, exciting and engaging “stories of change”. The previous editions of the festival, known as Sicilyfarm Film Festival, took place between Farm Cultural Park and the Valley of the Temples of Agrigento. The main partner of the festival is the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), an international financial institution and a specialized agency of the United Nations based in Rome – the United Nations food and agriculture hub. IFAD invests in rural people, empowering them to reduce poverty, increase food security, improve nutrition and strengthen resilience. Since 1978, we have provided US$23.2 billion in grants and low-interest loans to projects that have reached an estimated 518 million people. For further information on IFAD: www.ifad.org The Archaeological Park and Valley of the Temples covers about 1300 hectares and here you find the remains of the ancient city of Akragas and the surrounding territory up to the sea. The Valley of the Temples was declared in 1997 by Unesco a “World Heritage". Today the Valley of the Temples has more than one million visitors a year. The goal is not only to raise awareness of the common opinion about those people and places that are rethinking our future, but also to promote proactive behaviours with respect to the transformation of our society. PLACE, DATE AND DEADLINE Sicilymovie - Agrigento Film Festival will take place from 22 to 25 July 2021 at the Valley of the Temples of Agrigento The deadline for the call for entries will be May 31, 2021 at 23:59. CATEGORIES The categories selected for the festival are six. The different themes will give more space to many more artists within the festival. We only accept works made from January 2018. The categories are as follows: * Free themed short: section dedicated to short films that narrate fiction films or videos without preclusions of styles, genres and production techniques. The maximum duration will be 20 ' including the opening and ending titles. * Thematic documentary (IFAD COPEAM Award): documentaries that look at food security and issues facing rural communities. Suggested themes include climate and environment issues, nutrition and nutrition education, indigenous peoples, gender and young people. Documentaries must have a focus on Mediterranean countries. Maximum duration is 20 minutes, including the opening and ending titles. The maximum duration of the works will be 20 ' including the opening and ending titles. * Documentary: section dedicated to authors who dedicate their art to documentary language, without preclusion of styles, genres and techniques of realization. The maximum duration will be 20 ' including the opening and ending titles. * Videoclip: section dedicated to artists and directors who make music videos. This space will give visibility to both the authors and the bands presented. The maximum duration will be 6 ' including the opening and ending titles. * Animated short: section dedicated to all short films made with the technique of animation. Each theme and each type of story into the parameters as long as it is told with animation. The maximum duration of the works will be 10 ' including the opening and ending titles. * Sicily themed video / Spot( Around Sicily Award): section dedicated to promotional videos/spots that tell about Sicily or a Sicilian place. The maximum duration of the works will be 3 minutes including opening and ending titles.
