SOAR Film Festival is the first of its kind in Northern Ontario, Canada. A unique partnership that emerged between Laurentian University’s Outdoor Adventure Leadership Program (ADVL) and Sudbury Indie Cinema. With so many film festivals moving towards the online or virtual platforms only, this team thought it would be great to shift the focus on bringing people together in a safe cinematic environment to view both top adventure films as well as locally made films which feature outdoor activities and adventures enjoyed in Northeastern Ontario.
We are looking for short, adventurous and locally grown films that would typically soar under the radar of many other film festivals. This premier film festival is poised to showcase films under 20 minutes highlighting the outdoor adventure communities around the Greater Sudbury area including all of Northeast Ontario regions of Parry Sound, North Bay and Sault Ste. Marie. So whether you are a novice, recreationalist or pro we want you to fire up your inner outdoor adventurous spirit and send us your polished reels.
This is a student driven fundraising event and is locally supported which will help to loft student educational experiences….so students, current ADVL students (and past ADVL graduates) will receive a discount off the submission fee .
Our festival will take place at the Sudbury Indie Cinema in the heart of downtown Sudbury, Ontario over 3 days at the end of February, 2021. Parking is free and adventure is abundant.
Each film is viewed and judged by a team of student organizers.
