During the spring of 2022 Stockholm International Film Festival will host its 23rd film festival for children and youth. Since 2000 the festival has arranged film workshops, the short film competition “1 Minute Film”, and the Stockholm Film Festival Junior which screens films with free admission to everyone between ages six and nineteen. The screenings are free of charge for all children, teenagers and teachers. Members of Stockholm International Film Festival are also able see the films free of charge. The tickets are available for booking on our website from February until the last day of the festival. The festival activities never stop, with film workshops all year round, and workshops in museums around Stockholm that take place during the school holiday week in February and the film festival week in April. The film festival ends with an award ceremony at the movie theater Skandia in Stockholm. At the award ceremony the Bronze Horse is awarded to the Best Film, and the winners of the short film competition “1 Minute Film” are announced and receive awards. Our jury, that selects the winner of Best Film, reflects the Stockholm Film Festival Junior’s audience and therefore consists of a group of children and youth between the ages of 6 to 19. The main goal of the film festival is to show quality films from every corner of the world, and films which are outside the mainstream film repertoire. The film screenings are combined with individual creative work, discussions and study material for the classroom. In addition to this, each year the festival invites a number of international filmmakers who visit Stockholm to meet the young audience and answer their questions.
