Separate competitions cover professional and student shorts, animated documentaries, music videos and physical flipbooks, giving space to both screen-based work and animation on paper. Exhibitions, artist-led workshops and masterclasses extend the programme beyond screenings. FlipBook Productions and ASIFA Macedonia organise the event with support from the Cinematheque of Macedonia, one of its screening venues. The selection emphasises originality, animation technique and the social or educational content of the work.",[21
"2026",true,[25],"Flipbook Film Festival brought European animation to Skopje from August 3 to 9, 2026, with screenings at Kotur, the Cinematheque park and the Macedonian pub Dze. Alongside the main and student competitions, the programme gave animated documentaries and music videos their own late-evening screenings, while BoomBar welcomed younger audiences to the Cinematheque.

Anna Mantzaris’s Please won Best Animated Short Film, and Jelena Milunović’s Floating took the student prize. The festival also rewarded My Polish Hair, Michalina Musialik’s animated documentary, and Nespy 5euro’s video for Flea and Thom Yorke’s Traffic Lights. The young audience chose Magdalena Metrycka’s Citrus Cyclops; Eko-svest’s environmental award went to The Last Straw by Dorotea Radušić and Mislav Rotim.

Away from the competitions, retrospectives and masterclasses explored the work of Thomas and Ivana Volda, Marko and Martina Meštrović, and Vuk Jevremović. Exhibitions brought frames and sets out of the films and into the festival spaces. The week ended with the awards ceremony on August 9.",[27,39,51,63,74,86,97,109,121,133,145,157,168,178,190
"2044","Best Animated Short Film
48381,"please-anna-mantzaris","Please","In a big city, several characters in need of affection are each looking for a…",9,"/img/films/_th600/please-anna-mantzaris-dmzat0bt.webp",[38],"Anna Mantzaris
"2045","Best Animated Student Film
40840,"floating-jelena-milunovi","Floating","A daughter gradually realizes that her father is struggling with mental illness.
