Submissions are judged on what the editors call head, heart and hand: whether a film breaks new ground, whether it moves the viewer and how skilfully it is made. Story-driven work is preferred over music videos, effects showcases and purely promotional pieces. Short of the Week is a qualifying online channel for short films at the British Independent Film Awards and is on the Canadian Screen Awards list of eligible festivals and online platforms.
