It is organised by the Department of Arts of European University Cyprus in Nicosia and dates back to 2012, when its founder and director Demetra Englezou launched the first edition. Entries compete in four categories — Go with the Flow, Animatropics & Animesh, Short & Sweet and The Single Channel Show — each with a professional and a student award. Screenings sit alongside talks, masterclasses and workshops, and the festival accepts work from all over the world while encouraging Cypriot productions. It has received the EFFE label of the Europe for Festivals, Festivals for Europe initiative three times. The most recent edition announced by the organisers is the fifth, on 6–9 May 2019 at European University Cyprus and the A.G.
